Classes 19-20. Tuesday-Thursday 25-27/11

Hello!

Today we practised some grammar: the use of some/any, much/many/a lot of:
There´s some milk in the fridge. (affirmative)
Would you like some water? (suggestion)
Can you give me some apples, please? (request)
There isn´t much/little juice left. (negative and uncountable)
How many potatoes do you need?  - A few. (question and countable)
There is a lot of cheese in the supermarket. (affirmative and uncountable)
There are a lot of bananas in the bag. (affirmative and countable.)

Check the previous page of the blog to practise this grammar. Also watch a grammar video "Countable and Uncountable Nouns" and do the exercises online.

Also we watched a video "Food in Britain" (you can watch it again) and talked about typical British food and new tendencies.
What is your favourite food? Watch a video and write down the answers, repeat the expressions after the speakers.

We also learnt food quantities and containers to make uncountable nouns countable.
We use special words for that - containers (a can, a tin, a slice, a loaf, a steak, a bottle, a bar, a mug, a jar etc.).

Check the containers here. Watch the video and repeat the containers - Video.

Do online exercises: Ex 1 and Ex 2  and practise the containers.

Also we were trying to use the containers in our speech when we´re shopping:
I´d like some meat.
How much would you like?
I´d like three steaks. How much is a steak?
It´s 3 euros.Three steaks are 9 euros.

Have you got any bread?
Yes, I have. How much bread would you like?
I´d like 2 loaves of bread. How much is a loaf?
It´s 50 cents.

Your homework is to do the exercises in the copy related to cooking.
